-Feast of Music

Hauschka, Zeigler, and Kosminen join forces in a dynamic trio setting that includes prepared piano, electric cello and electronics and percussion.
Hauschka is the performance alias for German pianist/composer Volker Bertelmann. Also a pioneering force in neo-classical music, Hauscka has performed to sold out audiences across the world and collaborated with a vast variety of artists including Mum, Tortoise, and Jan Tomita. A hugely prolific artist, Hauschka’s work includes prepared piano performances, compositions for various ensembles, film scoring, and remixing. He has released highly praised albums for FatCat and Karaoke Kalk and his work has been featured in over a dozen films.

Samuli Kosminen is a Finnish percussionist who has been involved in numerous musical projects over the years. He is a member of Icelandic pop band Múm who since 1998 have forged a sublimely bright warm rich take on electronica. Kosminen was also a member of Finnish musical group Edea who went on to compete in the Eurovision contest with their song “Aava”.

Deemed by the New York Times as “excellent”, and a player who performs with “with unforced simplicity and beauty of tone” Jeffrey Zeigler has been the cellist of the internationally renowned Kronos Quartet for eight seasons. As cellist of one of the most celebrated and influential ensembles of our time, Zeigler has performed thousands of concerts worldwide, has premiered over 200 works and has collaborated with many of the world’s most versatile and innovative composers and performers. In the process, Zeigler has played an integral role in redrawing the boundaries of the string quartet medium.
